Lake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area (LETRA) is Fort Sill’s premier recreation destination meeting your recreation and lodging needs with close proximity to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, Medicine Park, and Fort Sill. LETRA is located at the base of Mt. Scott on a 360 acre, no wake lake with year round camping availability and summer season recreation activities. Located 12 miles NW of the main post, LETRA can be reached by using Apache Gate on Hwy 49 and all other by Sheridan Road Gate and Key Gate. DIRECTIONS TO GET TO LETRA:
If you are arriving before 2pm, you can use the Apache Gate, which is off the Medicine Park Exit. On I-44, take the exit for Medicine Park, and Apache Gate is the first road to the left. Immediately after passing through the gate, Northern Boundary is on the right, and will take you all the way to Letra.
If you are arriving after 2pm and have a DOD ID, you can use Key Gate:
From I-44, take exit 41 and enter Key Gate. Go to 3rd stop light, Ft. Sill Blvd; Turn Right.
Continue on Ft Sill Blvd until you come to a T (pool on left and splash park on right). Turn Left.
At next T, turn right. (creek will be on the right).
After pass over bridge, Turn Left at the Y. (Medicine Creek RV Park will be on the right).
Stay on that road until you come to another Y (Northern Boundary Road). Turn Left.
This road will take you all the way out to LETRA!
If you need a pass to get on Ft Sill, go to the Visitor Control Center, and then enter through Sheridan Gate:
From I-44, take exit 40B. Merge onto Rogers Ln, and go to the 2nd set of exits for Sheridan Rd. (the first set is for Ft Sill Blvd.) Take the 1st exit for Sheridan Rd - this is North.
As soon as you exit off of Rogers Ln, the VCC is on the right. Park and get the pass.
After getting the pass and entering Ft Sill, continue straight on Sheridan Rd until you get to Ft. Sill Blvd; Turn Left.
Continue on Ft Sill Blvd until you come to a T (pool and left and splash park on right). Turn Left.
At next T, turn right. (creek will be on the right).
After pass over bridge, Turn Left at the Y. (Medicine Creek RV Park will be on the right).
Stay on that road until you come to another Y (Northern Boundary Road). Turn Left.
This road will take you all the way out to LETRA!

LETRA RV'S
View a map of the LETRA RV park! The forty-five (45) RV pull through pads that provide 30 amp & 50 amp electric, sewer, water, satellite television, and internet. We can accommodate RVs up to a 65 ft. There is a dump station on site and it has a bathroom/shower/laundry facility open year around. LETRA RV Park is located on Fort Sill. MEDICINE CREEK RV'S
Info: Medicine Creek RV park is a small travel camp that is conveniently located to the main post. The park is a quick drive to the PX, Fitness Centers and Theater. Medicine Creek is a perfect spot for guests who are looking for a quiet , peaceful travel experience. With a seasonally stocked creek running through the area, you don’t have to go far for some great fishing. Remember: Medicine Creek tent camping is not allowed, but it is allowed at Letra. General Store and Beach Area are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Sites run from #1-11:
